‘Metro Man’ E.Sreedharan Set To Join BJP, May Contest Kerala Polls

“I have decided to join the BJP, just official formalities remain,”. “I believe in the issues the party is raising and I am against blind opposition political parties nationally.” said E.Sreedharan while officially announcing his connection with the Bhartiya Janta Party ahead of Kerala Assembly elections.

The 89-year old metro man cited under-development of Kerala as his reason to join the political party. He alleged to have met political resistance while working for the growth of the state.

“I have been living in Kerala for 10 years, but I have noticed that the LDF and UDF are only interested in their political growth, not in the state’s growth. In this scenario, it is only the BJP that can do something for the state,”

Sreedharan is a great admirer of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and inspired his work, he decided to join the party. “He is one of the best Prime Ministers India has seen, I have worked with him closely,” he said.

E.Sreedharan will officially join the party during the Vijaya Yatra, a political rally to be led Surendran. However it’s not clear if the Metroman will contest the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections as it will be the BJP to decide whether he will contest or not.

Popularly known as the ‘Metro Man’, Elattuvalapil Sreedharan changed the face of public transport in India building Konkan Railway and the Delhi Metro between 1995-2012. He was also appointed as the Principal Advisor to Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) but resigned lately due to health issues.
